There was a call in about the Gate Exit side not closing and a repair estimate came back with some expensive "needed" repairs. I met Mike from Access Controls Technologies (ACT) and he showed me first hand all that was wrong with our gate. At this point, I don't know what to do, as much of the gate is very old and has been working for over 10 years.
The following pictures are of a component that sits inside the wireless transmitter/receiver box below.
The Gate controller board has some corrosion on the circuit board itself.

After taking the gate control arms off, and removing the black boxes, the mechanism is exposed. The Battery back-up is directly connected to the emergency back-up motor.
The regular motor and the emergency back up motor are always moving since they are connected via a common belt. So, even though the back-up motor may never be used, the bearings in it are always exposed to the spinning of the normal gate operation.
The regular motor spins and transfers power to the lower transmission and a chain through another reduction mechanism moves the gate armature.
The back-up motor has two parts that are not supposed to move when it spins. It appears that our motor has some serious issues inside.
There are signs of wear and tear all throughout the mechanism. The mounting rails are also very corroded.
The two gate mechanisms are relatively identical on the left and right side of the gate. I was not able to get pictures of the left side, as we did not take the covers off of that side. It is quite possible that the left side is experiencing the same level of wear and tear as the right side gate mechanism.
More discussion is needed as to what should be replaced before it fails and what can we reasonably wait on.
It appears that the Magnolia branches are interfering with the gate.
The gate is definitely coming in contact with the tree(s). This is on the right/opening side as you come in the gate.
